MLS 24 Under 24 The MLS 24 Under 24 recognizes young players who are already making great contributions to their clubs that are considered essential to their success. This is the third year that the league has announced the list, and fans are able to vote for their favorites in 2012. The final announcement of the player ranked in first place will be made on Sept. 21. Unfortunately, the fan vote only counts for 10 percent while the other 90 percent will come from experts. Sean Johnson is Included Sean Johnson is ranked in fourth place in the MLS 24 Under 24 and is the only Chicago Fire player to have made the list in 2012. The goalie was ranked in 16th place in 2011 and eighth place in 2010. His climb on the list coincides with his ongoing improvement with the Fire. Although Major League Soccer only allows players who are 23 and younger to be nominated, Johnson still faced competition from 182 players, so his inclusion is significant. The 2012 Season for Sean Johnson The latest recognition from MLS is a small part of the accolades Sean Johnson has been enjoying this year. He has been called up to the U.S. national team several times this season and even earned praise from head coach Jurgen Klinsmann because he has improved. The Chicago Fire goalie has also been recently nominated for an EA Sports cover that will be included in the FIFA 13 video game. Sean Johnson has earned several nominations for MLS Save of the Week during the 2012 season while continuing to be a reliable part of the team.
